Dixit variant

4 Teams of 2

Break into four teams. Members of each team sit across from each other, as in this example:

A1-B1-C1-D1-A2-B2-C2-D2

Each player has four cards. The storyteller (for this example, A1) chooses a card and says a word or phrase, as in the standard Dixit rules.

Teams B, C and D agree to play one card for each team without showing it to their respective partners. (For example, B1 might tell B2, 'I have a good one.') The storyteller's partner also chooses a card.

Thus, there will be five cards on the table:

The card chosen by storyteller A1

A card from Team B

A card from Team C

A card from Team D

A card from the storyteller's partner (A2)

All players (except the storyteller) then vote. There will be a total of seven votes.

As in the standard game, players may not vote for their own cards. Players may vote for team cards unknowingly.

Scoring is the same as in the standard game, with one exception. If the storyteller's partner is the only one to vote for the storyteller's card, that team wins six points.

After the score is tallied, the next player becomes the storyteller (B1, in this case) and each player fills his hand to four cards. Players who did not submit a card will obviously not draw more.

The game ends when one team reaches 30 points.
